September 2026 UPDATE

We had a brilliant 42-show run at the Edinburgh Fringe!

Although we sold 2,000 tickets, the monumental costs of partaking in the festival - along with the amount of upscaling we did with the production - we still need support to cover our costs.

In exchange for further donations, we are offering some Merchandise in our "Rewards" section on this page:

1. Our 2026 Edinburgh Fringe A3 Poster
2. Our Valdemar A3 Poster, containing the original artwork created for the show on the front, and the full unabridged text on the back.
3. Our Business Man Pamphlet, which features an A3 poster with all of the original artwork created for the show on the front, and the full unabridged text on the back, together with a sleeve with a 'Why I Adapted The Business Man' article inside.

We are raising funds for two new projects, furthering the development of our adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe's works:

• One Man Poe: The Business Man and The Case of M. Valdemar (Theatre)
• The Black Cat (Short Film)

Help us bring these stories to life.

One Man Poe was first created in 2021. Over the last five years, the production has gone from stregth-to-strength, touring the UK, appearing in various festivals and visiting schools, and toured internationally.

A demonstration of it's success could not be better illustrated than looking at it's success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - in both 2024 and 2025.

For it's first year, One Man Poe sold-out its entire run and was awarded the Spookies Award for Best Horror Solo Show. Building on this momentum, upscaling to a bigger venue for the 2025 festival, it not only sold-out its entire run again, but was also awarded The Derek Award for Best Overall Show of the Edinburgh Fringe.

This year, we are bringing the show back to Edinburgh Fringe 2026, but with the addition of TWO NEW Poe stories:

• The Business Man
• The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar

'Discover two lesser-known stories from Edgar Allan Poe. First, in Poe's dark and comedic political satire on American capitalism, the dubious, "self-made" businessman Peter Proffit wants your vote as President of the United States. Then, a gruesome account of an experiment gone wrong, when a renowned Mesmerist hypnotises his willing patient, Earnest Valdemar, at the very moment of his death. Brand-new for the 2026 Fringe, One Man Poe adds these more obscure, yet distinctly unsettling, double-bill to its critically acclaimed repertoire of the finest examples of gothic literature.'

These two new stories will require a bigger team to achieve: we need the help of at least 2x people to help with moving large set pieces about, in between the stories. We also need funds to purchase and/or build the set pieces, and to acquire the new props, costume and make up.
